TPFF’s 20th Anniversary - Aje

Raw beauty, tough femininity and effortless cool will rule the runway at Fashion Paramount when Aje comes to Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

Presented by AMP Capital Shopping Centres, the beloved Australian label will make its TPFF debut on Tuesday September 11 at the new-look style hub at Optus Stadium.

Aje seamlessly spans the divide between urban and coastal styles, with hand-loomed fabrics, hand-sewn embellishments and hand-painted prints lending an artisanal feel to the garments.

Designers and best friends Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest are committed to presenting sustainable collections that speak to the rugged beauty of our country’s landscapes, and their Resort 18/19 collection is no different.

Inspired by prolific Australian artist Brett Whiteley, the collection is a beautiful fusion between art and fashion celebrating love, passion and teamwork.

Whiteley used his art to articulate many things – emotions, sensuality, conformity, liberation, political and social views, and life philosophies – but it was his wife Wendy, who was his constant source of inspiration, being his figurative muse, his lover and his co-curator.

Throughout the collaborative process, Norris and Forest worked tirelessly with Wendy Whiteley and Brett Whiteley Studio, the custodians of Whiteley’s archive, to ensure the integrity of the artworks would be preserved during the transformation into wearable form.

Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said Aje
“As TPFF celebrates its 20th anniversary, one of Australia’s favourite labels, Aje, also celebrates its 10-year milestone and we are thrilled to have the label part of this year’s Festival,” Ms Harvey-Hanrahan said.

“What I love about Aje is their commitment to using artisan techniques in their collections, with a focus on handmade and sustainable additions to their garments.

“Aje is the epitome of relaxed glamour, and it’s no surprise the brand has grown to have thirteen boutiques in Australia plus an exclusive domestic partnership with David Jones.

“This runway show will be such a treat for savvy guests with a modern outlook on style.”
